She has recorded several high-profile cover songs, including Half the World Away (by the band Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) and have been widely praised. Katy Perry, who endorsed the song Runaway from her side, also gave it some more recognition. Celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding the piano in the attic of her home, and being captivated by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to take up music as a passion rather than as a job. For this reason she wrote her first original compositions. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as a love for Bjork's style. Her mother encouraged her to perform her music in front of the public, but not to achieve fame, but rather to help others realize how important they are and the good they do to make a difference in the world. She began playing the piano when she was six years old and started writing music at age nine. Her family didn't know about this until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. Aurora claims she loves writing songs. For her music, it is the most effective method of expressing anything.
